I’ve been reading a great book – Practicing the Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle. The reason this book is so great is because it teaches you not only to enjoy the present moment – but to embrace it as all you ever have had or ever will have.
Let me explain. If you think of the future it is a projected future – basically it is imagination. That’s what worry is, the fear of what might happen.
If you think of the past you are thinking of a record of a past present moment. At the time this thing happened it was a present moment, and now it is stored on a “video” of sorts in your mind.
The only thing the future is good for is to plan ahead – briefly – and then get to work in the present. The only thing the past is good for is to refer to it – briefly – when needed – then get back to the present.
Always come back to the present swiftly – lingering too long in the past or future will make you impatient and discontent with the only thing you truly have – the NOW.
So you may be wondering what this has to do with fat loss and fitness. Everything. You see, the small things you are doing here, in the now, affect your future “present moments”.
That’s why everything big, of a large scale, and of high importance is built with daily rituals, small things you do right every day that lead to a great result. That means good food choices, the choice to work out, the choice to make the right choices so to speak.
Rome was not built in a day, and I hope that you can embrace the now, accept who you are today, and then start doing the small things that will make your future present moments increasingly better.
